Is Google Workspace enough for a law firm?
Google Workspace provides communication and document collaboration for professional services. Relex addresses a different need: the continuing legal record that compatible agents can consult across sessions. Keep your office tools; use Relex when files and chats alone leave you rebuilding the same matter background.
What does Relex add to a Drive folder?
A matter can connect facts, issues, parties represented by labels, legal sources, obligations and saved work rather than rely on folder names alone. Start the next authorized agent from that record. Summary-first MCP reads can avoid repeatedly sending the entire file, while protected intake and document flows separate client identity from model-facing context. Review the underlying sources whenever the task requires them.
What about Gemini and Google’s confidentiality controls?
Google documents enterprise data protections for qualifying Workspace editions. Gemini Enterprise for Legal is a separate legal-specific offering, shown in preview when reviewed on 24 September 2026, with legal skills and MCP connectors. Do not confuse it with ordinary Drive storage or claim Google has no legal AI. Compare the exact edition, permissions, handling of plaintext identities, portability, governance and total workflow cost. Relex is not claimed to be a Google-approved connector.
How does a firm get started?
Use one authorized matter: bring approved materials through Relex’s protected flows, review their de-identification, connect a supported assistant, and save conclusions. Add client intake, agreements and eligible billing workflows as needed; publish an eligible Marketplace profile to be discoverable. The SDK is an option for a custom client portal, not a prerequisite. This is not automatic Google Drive synchronization or a migration of Gmail, Vault and your entire office suite.
