Your private key is protected locally using a key derived from your PII password; encrypted key material and ciphertext are stored in the cloud so another authorized device can retrieve them. Reveal happens locally using your password or recovery secret. Organization records can also be opened by authorized members with the appropriate key access. This protection concerns sealed identity fields—not every fact in a matter. ### It must give the model real structure The context stays in your workspace; the agent accesses what you authorize. Saved conclusions, linked sources and structured matter knowledge can inform the next session. Relex does not automatically import private conversations from other AI apps. ### It must let the model act, not just answer Claude can open a case, run the eval that classifies it, draft and redline against your playbooks, flag clause enforceability for you to decide, record attachments, and take the matter through native cryptographic signing and invoicing. The work lands somewhere permanent instead of scrolling out of a chat window. ### It must keep a human accountable Relex is a software platform, not a law firm, and it does not replace lawyers. A qualified professional stays accountable for judgment, which is also what Anthropic’s own usage policy expects of high-risk domains like law. The AI does the work around the law. Tool availability and token use depend on the client and task; no fixed token saving is promised. Sealed-data requests return safe workflow guidance. ## The moment client names enter a chat window Every lawyer who has used an assistant knows the moment. The matter is real, the deadline is close, and the fastest way to get help is to paste the letter in, names and all. That single paste is the whole risk, and it is not fixed by promising to be careful next time. In-browser model (the current default): documents are read and de-identified on your device; difficult pages are re-read by an AI model running in your browser. Its weights download once in the background; downloading weights is not uploading your document. On devices that can’t run it, difficult pages keep the fast reading and are marked for review instead of being sent anywhere. Your own endpoint (optional): the browser sends the relevant page directly to the configured model. A localhost model is outside the browser but on your device; a remote private endpoint receives the raw page. Assess that endpoint’s operator, logs and retention. A trace verifies an observed flow, not every future release or server behavior. Source review and independent testing strengthen the evidence; this guide is not an independent audit. You still rely on your device, browser, extensions and the code delivered to it. Detection can miss identities, and dates or unusual facts can identify someone even after names are removed: this is reversible pseudonymisation, not guaranteed anonymity. Use a strong PII password and protect the recovery secret. Account, billing, permitted sharing and operational metadata have separate data paths. ## Works with Claude, not powered by Claude No. Relex is an independent platform, not an Anthropic product.
